Bethany Managment Group - Willow Lake Apartments
No compassion

I have lived at Willow Lake Apartments for about a year and a half. It's always been a decent place to live and the office staff was always very helpful and friendly. On September 27 I was returning home to my apartment around 10:30pm. I had double parked in front of my building to unload the items that were inside my vehical. As I was opening my car door another vehical filled with four men pulled in front of my car. Two men approached my car, one placing a gun to my head, and demanded all of my things. The men took my vehical and all of my personal property that was inside. This included personal information and the keys to my home.

That night I took the steps to contact the police and a report was filed. I contacted maintenance and they did come and replace the locks on my apartment that night. Obviously being a single woman living alone I no longer felt safe staying in that neighborhood let alone that apartment. I spoke with the property manager and the district property manager and both were unwilling to allow me to break my lease without 60 day notice and an additional months rent. They said that they contacted the Bethany Management Group and they also refused the break in lease. They stated that they did not promise security nor did they have to take steps to make the property more secure and that I should just be more cautious. I was asked to give sixty days notice in addition to another months rent.

So it cost over $2500 to break a lease when someone could have very well looked at the circumstances and allowed their "policy" to be broken. It completly blows my mind how there is such a lack of compassion when it comes to this situation. This company is so concerned with getting their money that they have no care for the people that live on their property. There are people within the company that can very easily say "yes" to a break in lease after reviewing this situation, but they chose not to. There has to be something that I can do.
