False information - malicious intention - false information

The Salt Lake Tribune Vs. Misrepresented, false, malicious and exaggerated information. It appears that the paper does not investigate information provided by its sources. Certain information that the Department of Security Public Information Officer Jennifer Bolton provided the SLC Tribune was exaggerated and fraudulent, but the SLC Tribune published the information regardless.

Former Senator John De Camp suspected that serious problems existed in The Utah Securities Department. Weeks later the Department became front page news being accused of false prosecution and abuse of power and authority. The director stepped down and possible criminal charges will be levied against individuals in the department. The investigation is being led by (R) Jim Rice, Utah House of Representatives and the Utah State Senate.

Posted: 9:15 AM - Amid concerns of mismanagement, too many unfair prosecutions and an ongoing state audit, the director of the Utah Division of Securities is stepping down. Wayne Klein, who was named director in October said he will be leaving his post at the end of the month.

The resignation last week of Utah Securities Division Director Wayne Klein wasn't enough to silence critics bent on reining in a state agency they say is running amok over the rights of those it regulates.
Chuck Newton of the Financial Planning Association of Utah said he has heard of enough "shocking actions" at the Securities Division in recent years to lead him to believe that some government officials may eventually be criminally prosecuted

Newton lays much of the blame for what he contends is widespread mismanagement on the director of the state's Department of Commerce, Francine Giani, who oversees the Securities Division.

And in his letter to Bird, Newton said Giani allegedly was made aware of illegal activities taking place within the division and responded by telling employees that she didn't care if the actions of the division were legal or not - but that employees were to perform the jobs without question.

"While some employees appear to be willing to follow her highly questionable and irresponsible orders, others are highly reluctant to do so and risk their jobs if they fail to follow her orders, " Newton wrote

In conclusion, if we the people cannot depend on our justice system to be just, how do we expect the citizens under the system to be just? Its monkey see, monkey do. Not that we are all a bunch of monkeys, but we become what our environment offers, and we are influenced by those we trust and follow. Unfortunately we are becoming increasingly aware of our need to worry about those we entrust with the leadership of our countries welfare.
