Duracell
AAA Explodes

Miscellaneous

I was using my ROADMICE4DM, a 2011 Dodge Challenger wireless mouse, with (2) duracell AAA batteries installed i was scrolling thru some downloaded files, selecting the ones i wanted to burn to a DVD when i heard a loud pop almost like a firecracker and it was hard to discern from where the sound had come. When i turned my mouse over and opened the battery compartment i noticed that one of the AAA batteries was leaking a white foaming/cream like substance from the base at the negative terminal upon removing the batteries it was apparent the battery had come apart at the negative terminal and had deposited a large amount of it's internals inside my mouse and on my desk as well as my hands. This concerns me as the mouse cost me $60.00, my desk is a one of a kind hand made item of great value and my hands are to me anyway, invaluable. I dare to think what the resulting outcome could have been if this occurred when i was not present to deal with the leaking acid in a timely manner. Thankfully i was able to clean the acid off all surfaces before visible damage was done. Just thought it should be brought to someones attention.
