Michael Diaz Construction Fraud with major monetary repercutions, DO NOT USE

This company is the ultimate scam artists and rip off. Michael Diaz, who heads the operation, is the typical scam artist by pretending to know what he is doing and making you feel comfortable hiring him for General Contracting purposes.

Unfortunately, if you search his license number it is still active and has no complaints on the record. That will soon change as he has screwed over and scammed two restaurant/hospitality build outs in one month to the amount of almost $20,000. As people who do not know much about construction all you can do is make sure you hire someone who is licensed and insured. On the cover, P & M Construction and Michael Diaz seem to fit the bill of a competent construction company. That is far from the truth.

He was hired to do a complete build out of my restaurant project. He started off fine and actually performed a few things in his contract up to par. Only a few. After the first week he started to not be on the job. His workers would arrive at the job at 4 or 5 o'clock sometimes. It was evident that his employees were not licensed or even competent to do the job. Some looked and performed work like they were just pulled off the street.

After the shady employees came the inevitable price increase of the job by performing "extras". He charged us for things that were thought and discussed to be in the original contract. He did extra a/c work and insisted to use his "a/c guy". This was a serious expense and the work was not professional at all. It has since been replaced and cost me double what it should have.

Throughout this whole time, Michael Diaz and P & M Construction continuously insisted that the job was going fine and more money was needed. We were naive and gave in because we hoped the job would be done and we could open our business.

Michael insisted that he went down to City Hall numerous times to apply for permits. He showed us receipts. However this was far from the truth. He applied for the wrong permit and turned in one page of simple drawings that were supposed to pass for our plan review drawing plans. This was all declined by the city eventually.

As one month went by I received a call from another business owner who was being screwed by P & M Construction. The same type of situation was happening.

Unfortunately we fell victim to a serious con artist. It was found out that the owner was on probation and has a previous criminal history of fraud and burglary. The GC license is also under a different name of Pedro Furtado. When asked about this, Michael Diaz would not put me on contact with the partner and actual GC of the company. What type of company and man is this? All of the work that P & M performed had to be replaced. The electrical work was done with the wrong wire and could have caused serious problems. Most of the work was just poorly done and patch work so on the service it looked passable. The bathroom tile had to be redone 4 times.

Please do not use this company for any work. They are a fraud and hopefully will never be able to perform work again. He has screwed over hard working people. My hope is that it does not happen again.
