Phony microsoft
Soliciting the upgrade of microsoft key

Miscellaneous

Someone called me and told me they were from microsoftand that my windows program was corrupted and they would assistme in repairing it.

They used ammy admin, with my permission, to show me where the corruption was. They showed me my registration number to legitimize the call, which I confirmed.

Then they showed me where the windows key was under a grace period. And they told me that I had to purchase the key renewal or they wouldn't be able to assist me further, and that my computer would be locked and I wouldn't have access to it.

So they gave me 3 choices of renewal options and I selected the 99.00, which was the cheapest. I told them I prefer to use paypal, but they had their ammy admin still on, so they took my computer to Western Union. And while they were filling out Ryan Jacobson on recipient, they had me jot down a confirmation number (so I wouldn't be watching who the recipient was), but I saw them put his name in there.

Then I said I didn't feel comfortable and that I had to call my brother-in-law who works for microsoft and made them hold the phone while I did that. My brother in law said no one would ever call me from microsoft without me soliciting them first, and that it must be fake.

So, I told the guys that I would have to call them back and asked them their number. They gave me 888-463-7406. I told them I would leave my computer right where it was and I would call them back. They insisted they were from microsoft and for me to fill out the credit card info with code. And I said, no, you would be abel to see it, and they said they wouldn't because it was encrypted. Well, I told them I would call them back.

This sounds like something real but is fake. Please investigate so that no one gets taken advantage of. I almost bought into it, with all my corrupted files. Mona Richard
