I wanted to get a duplicate of my social security card. This site came up and looked like an official site, except for fine print, which I missed. I filled out all the information. I was surprised that the govt was charging $48 for this service, but I know there has been a trend toward "user fees, " so I just grumbled and put in my credit card information. Turned out that I got nothing for my effort, not even a printable application. At the end, I realized something was wrong, but it was too late. Not only am I out $48, but they have all my personal information!!! Very deceptive.
