Orbitz canceled and only sent email - flights

Orbitz canceled my wife's ticket to Israel and only sent us an email, which went to our spam folder. They gave us an airline confirmation number and everything. My wife showed up at the airport with our 4 and 6 year olds and was told that there was no ticket! She didn't even have a cell phone and had to buy a more expensive ticket on the spot. Customer service said "they did everything possible to contact us" even though they didn't call or sms us, and the sms me every time a gate is changed on a flight.
