I applied for a security position and was offered an interview for the 28th June. I was told to bring with me a £160 deposit for vetting and uniform and that i would be eligible for a refund if i did not take or get offered the position and if i did get the job i would receive it back in my first month of pay.
I gave cash as they said their machine was broken. I was told to wait approximately a week to receive an update on my status of application but I have heard nothing since the 28th June.
I rang the company to ask for my deposit back as i was no longer interested in the position and was told to write a letter of request along with my account number in order to receive my deposit back.
The letter of request was sent on the 27th July and i have not heard anything since. Ihave tried to contact them directly but the telephone always diverts to an answering machine.
I am concerned that i have been very stupid and have been conned.
