Klmn reader services
Instead of my subscritopns going to a shelter5, the money was to end up with the salesperson as a donation. I submitted an address to prevent this, will see in Oct. Of 2012 if that happens

Miscellaneous

Two personable young, African-American people approached my husband and me, white, middle class, as we sat in our back yard, with a reasonable hard luck story. I purchased two subscriptions for magazines that the seller promised would go to a homeless or abuse shelter since I wanted no magazines. Gladly wrote the check, only to find the receipt was for $10. More that the cost. I chase her down to street to point out the error, to be told that was for handling.

One month has passed, so I called the # on the receipt, 757-818-9497, to ensure the delivery would be made. Danielle informed me they do not have a database of charities which the receipt states (in fine print) for forwarding. After many pointed, insistent questions I learned that the salesperson had received the monies as my donation, such as people make to the Girls Scouts when they prefer no cookies! At the agent's suggestion, I called once again with a charity of my preference as recipients of the mags. I will follow-up with my designation in Oct. To see if the truth be told this time. Buyer beware!
