Personalizing stamps allows for this in a huge way. Not only do I use them in correspondence with friends, but they are part of our Christmas card tradition. Last year, I gave my sister a few sheets of stamps I designed with a loved member of her family, which urned out to be a great and very much appreciated gift. Problems spring up with every sort of service and this year, I had trouble getting my stamps delivered. When I called customer service, the rep., who I was happy to find was actually in the U.S., understood my problem immediately, did not make me repeat it umpteen times and promptly solved the problem to my satisfaction. Because of Stamps.com, I find myself wanting to mail letters instead of using email. I'm the kind of person who appreciates the tactile aspect and the aesthetic of personal communication, finding fun in choosing stationery or cards or even pens. It feels like an expression of who I am.
