I was on Amazon's website looking for a book & hotbooksale.com offered that book at a discounted price of $11.05 on July 24.
I only noticed a monthly charge on my account today (6/21) for $19.95 every end of month since July 31st, totaling $219.45. It was under bbv hotbooksale
I looked up the name & found their site & called up to be told that I had purchased a monthly membership at the time of purchasing a book from them for $11.05!
I disputed that & they agreed to refund 2 months. After insisting on reaching a higher level customer relations adviser, they agreed to refund 3 months & to cancel my membership (which I never authorized). I probably spent close to an hour & was hung up on twice & made a total of 4 calls to them.
I also called American Express to file a dispute claim.
When I looked for this companies website, I saw numerous other complaints by others who have been scammed in the same way by this company.
