"Want to win a $500 gift card from Gamestop? Fill out a survey about Gears of War that only the fans would know and be eligible to win a card!". This was on a Facebook Ad... Like the example on this site - it had all the gimmicks to fill out info but I kept pressing skip option. My boyfriend has an account at Gamestop... So this really wasn't even my PHONE NUMBER to give away. I was trying to be cute because he had won an Xbox Slim before in a giveaway/survey... So I thought it was just going to be one of those deals where there was potential to get it but not going to. Anyway, it prompted his number two times and two times asked for codes to be entered. I was finally past the crap after I (admittedly didn't browse the Agreement form...) and when it went to the final page my COMODO Firewall popped up and said protected against threat, trojan virus! He said he started getting texts from fromcelladventures.com, Fact-O-Rama, and 4 FunRingTone. I panicked and looked up "cell phone text scams" and sure enough I come across several articles and this website. I told him to immediately text STOP on everything that was coming through and I said I would call his cell phone company when I come to visit him this week and tell them to drop any premium service charges. I'm 22 years old, just wanted to gift a loved one, ended up with this. Joy. Afraid to see potential charges...
