Miscellaneous

I am a small business owner and I get a call from yellow pages public about an ad that they say I had ok'd a year ago. The sales person says I owe 599.99, for the past years worth of an ad. I say that's impossible, I never signed on for anything. We argue, naturally, she wants to know if I want to renew, I tell her no, try to get to the bottom of all this, she transfers me to a different person just to verify all my info. Matters get worse when I get a call a few months later trying to collect 599.99 plus several months of interest. This new lady says that I ok'd a new ad on the earlier call and it is for an ad starting on that date not from a year ago. She plays the recording, which makes it sound like I am ok with all of it, but never mentions the ad or me saying yes to any of it, just yes to my info and that I am responcible for the dicisions of the company. She thinks that she will continue to hound me over this until I pay. What do I do now, can these people damage my credit with their scam, or can I tell them exactly what I think and never pay them and go on without further problems?
