This car was purchased used from Sayville Ford, used car dept. Told us it is a pre approved quality car. We purchased an extended warranty with the car to cover costs of repairs if needed. After 5 months the check engine light came on, we brought it back to Sayville Ford's service Dep't. They told me it had a 400 code, (catalytic converter. They said they had to take the exhaust system out to check the converters. I know for a fact that there is a machine to check exhaust pressure with out dis mantling the system. They took out the system, said that they inspected it and found a clogged converter. It is impossible to view that since there is no way to look down the exhaust manifold, (attached to the catalytic converters) They said the catalytic converters were not covered under the extended warranty. We couldn't afford $2,600.00 for the repair so they put the exhaust system back in. When I picked up the car, it was very noisy. They couldn't have put the system back in correctly. I had the service writer make a notation on my bill of $259.00, for diagnostic time, which I thought was uncalled for. We want to return this car to Sayville Ford for a refund. Also a former mechanic of Sayville Ford said to me that they have a away to set a malfunctioning cars computer so any problem that is pre existing do not occur for several months. They are selling defective used cars and I want something done about this.in the past I have bought 6 cars, some used and some new and dealt with them for 18 years. Not a nice way to treat a loyal customer. Please get back to me on this.
