Credit Card Pre-Approval Scam! Rip-off!

I had been receiving calls from a strange number on my cell phone for weeks. When I finally caught the call, it was a woman telling me that I'd been pre-approved for a credit card. She asked if I was interested and said that someone would be calling me back in a few minutes to confirm the card.

When the man called me back, he stated that I was pre-approved for a card with a $500-$1500 credit limit. All I had to do was pay a 1 time fee of $129.95 to process the card and prevent any annual fees or spikes in interest rates. I agreed and gave him my checking account information. Not a smart move.

The withdrawl was scheduled for August 20th, when August 25th rolled around and the money still hadn't been taken out. I got leary and Googled the company. The first thing I saw was this rip off report. I immediately called my bank and did a stop payment on the draft. Even the bank clerk was familiar with this scam and told me to NEVER pay an upfront fee for a credit card, no matter how badly I need to re-establish credit. I payed $20 to prevent me from losing $129.95. It was worth it for me, I hope other people can see these reports and protect themselves from scams.
