Disappointed - Used Boss Metal Zone guitar pedal

I'm very upset with this guitar center, I bought other pedals from this store and it's been alright, but I bought this Metal Zone pedal from the guitar center near Austin and it worked once outside of the store and then broke. Now, I understand used equipment isn't reliable but for it to work once in the store and once outside, that's just unacceptable.
