Loteria Primitiva
Protective Security Company SA Thinly veiled mail fraud

I received two identical letters in the mail from the Loteria Primitiva, which read as follows:

"RE: Award Claim Final Notification.
This is to inform you on the release of the Primitiva Sweepstake Lottery Program held on the 31st of May. Your name attached to ticket number 025-11-464-992-750 with serial number 2113-05 drew the lucky numbers 13-15-16-34-36 which consequently won the lottery in the 3rd category.
You have therefore been approved for a lump sum payout of USD$615,810.00..." and goes on to describe the procedures for claiming my prize.

Enclosed with this letter is a form from "Protective Security Company SA, " which requests my bank routing and account number, (insinuating that they will wire my winnings to that account.)

If you receive a similar letter, do not give them your information. I have not given them any information and do not plan to, but wanted to warn anyone else who may be searching on the internet for "Loteria Primitiva" that this is a pretty old mail fraud scam. Before the internet, this is how scam artists made money. I guess someone realised that people don't expect old-fashioned mail fraud and might believe the letter and respond with their bank info. Please please please, do not be fooled by them. Even if you are just going to do it out of curiosity in case it just might be true, please stop and think. This sounds too good to be true because it is. If they steal your money you have no one to blame but yourself.
