As self employed I paid monthly for years. Sold my truck, called & cancel. Now am in collection for $449.53

I was self employed trucker; I made monthly payment for years to AMERICAN TRUCKERS LEGAL ASSOCIATION, for their defense service.

In February decided to go to work for a large company, they supply legal defense service, so I called American truckers and cancel.

In July 19 I AMERICAN TRUCKERS send me a letter saying if I didnt pay $449.53 they were sending me to collection.

When I called them to argue the point!

They say I didnt send a writing cancelation and until I did they were going to continue to collect.

When I asked since I was making monthly payments why they wait so long to even notify me?

They said they didn't have to notify me, it was my responsibility to send a writing cancelation.

Now I am in collection for $449.53.

I feel they take advantage of what they can get away with and not what is fair.
