Western union scam: my grandparents recieved a phone call from peru

I recieved a phone call from my father who waited 7 months after the fact to tell my that my grandfather had sent supposively money to me in peru... That i was in jail for a dui and that i needed money to get out of jail... I told my dad that i wasnt even in peru and that i dont even have a passport to go to peru... My dad finally told me to call my grandfather that he wasnt worried about the money... So i call my grandfather and he and my grandmother that it wasnt me that they was scammed... Of course them being in there 80's they didnt believe me... I want to clear my name and some how have them trust me and the rest of my family who as well think that i scammed my grandparents out of money. The person was named Leland Gibbs was the reciever and the person called portraying to be me knew personal information that he was in fact calling my grandparents... So not only do i have to file a police report but have to convince to my grandparents and the rest of my famil that i wasnt the one who called asking for money!!!
