Bought a 2004 Saturn Ion at Copart in Finksburg, Maryland with the "Run and Drive" emblem displayed on the vehicle discription page. Now this was a "clean" title vehicle and the damages listed were "minor scratches and dents". We paid for the car and asked that it be driven out of the gate so as not to potentionally damage it with the forklift. After about 10 minutes a very bewildered employee came to the gate and informed us that the car started but would not move when put into gear. We talked with several employees and finally the Yard Manager who explained that Copart is not responsible for the vehicle condition and does not make any claims as cars condition. She was quick to pull out the "Member Protection Pledge" which seems to have been prepared by the corporate lawyers to give buyers a sense of FALSE security.in reality it is a meaningless "pledge" that explains that a buyer can be refunded if, "The vehicle’s running condition has not been accurately classified according to criteria for those programs." However the "criteria" for the run and drive program states elswhere " There is no guarantee, representation, or warranty that the vehicle will (i) start, (ii) drive, or (iii) move forward under its own power at the time the vehicle is picked up at Copart's facility. WHAT!!! How can any person feel confident enough in a company like this to ever purchase a vehicle. I was duped, don't you be next, it's a slick website that markets itself as a place ordinary people can buy a auction car. Some one needs to do something about this ripoff company.
