Do not use your credit card

My mother came to Fulton Missouri to visit family in May of she called the Travelier Motel about a week before her arrival to reserve a room. She asked for a smoking room, they secured her credit/debit card for the reservation and she arrived for her prepaid week stay. Upon her arrival she witnessed doors with a non-smoking sign on them, one of which in fact was right next door to her room.

Since she had asked for a smoking room she then smoked in the room for her week stay. Her room was cleaned while she was still there and no one said anything to her about her smoking. Two days after returning to her home state she noticed a $100 charge on her account statement. She tried several times to call the motel and could not get an answer. My sister and I who live in Fulton decided to go there ourselves and ask what this was all about.

They informed us that she was being charged $100 because she smoked in the room. We tried to explain she had asked for a smoking room and there was no indication that it was in fact a non smoking room. Well we were treated like common criminals and told that we must've stole the non smoking sign so that we could come back later and claim to not have known... We said why would we do that so we could be charged $100, we just would have not smoked in there.

We were screamed and yelled at to the point of almost calling the police. I said my mother is not a child she is 56 yrs. Old and she would not have smoked if she didn't think she could. They told us "How do I know your mother isn't a child!" Basically we were treated like trash when in fact the place isn't that nice to begin with and the only trash is the people who are running the show over there.

So do not use your credit card at this place and don't expect to be treated with respect either because this place is shady... A ripoff and the employees/owners are rude and hateful and do not know how to have a conversation like a human being. We will not be staying there ever again and will tell everyone we know about the business practice going on there.
