Expedia Customer Service Rep Booked the wrong hotel... Then charged me cancellation fees - NY flight and hotel

I went online to book hotel, I set up complete itinerary, including flight and hotel. Price was 1700 to NY for our vacation. The online program kept increasing the cost of my trip every time I hit pay... This happened multiple times on multiple trip senarios. Also all happening with in a matter of minutes. (false advertising)

I contacted customer service, the man had the copy of my itinerary because I had saved it to my account. He told me he found me a better deal at the same hotel and the cost was 1100. So i would be saving 600 by booking with him. I was very happy until a few days later when I was reviewing the itinerary and noticed he booked me at a hotel in the WRONG STATE with the same name!!!

I contacted expedia to resolve it, assuming that it would be an easy switch. They told me I have to pay them upward of 3,000 to book in the correct hotel!!! Seriousy!!! Thats 3 times the amount i originally paid for the whole trip and now they want me to pay that for just the hotel. The man forced me to choke up 3k or pay the 200 cancellation fee for their mistake. We had to cancel our trip and pay them 200. I dont see how this is fair or ethical, that the consumers pays for the companies mistake. It was too late to even rebook the trip.

On top of all of that, they kept me on the phone and on hold for over 2 hours. Finally after being transferrred to 3 foreign speakers, I finally got an english speaker who still coulding resolve the issue.
