Taking advantage of elderly

I have a family plan and I pay for a phone for my mother and father. This company signed my father up for some history alerts.US Cellular said I would need to call them to get the refund.

So I called the number and was told that my 70 year old father who doesn't know how to use the internet or look at or send a text message, navigated to some history web page, entered his cell phone number and then received a text message with a code on it. He then proceeded to enter the code from his phone on to this web page to authorize the 9.99 monthly charge.

According to the history log both my mothers and fathers computer never made a connection to the web site in question. My fathers cell phone had 4 unread text messages on it. 1 welcoming us to US Cellular the rest were from my mother and all of them were unopened.

After dialing the 800 number US Cellular gave me to My Mobile Care, I spent the first 20 minutes on hold, the next 5 minutes being told why I was being charged and that the charges were authorized. Then I was told that I would have to submit a letter to some address to request a refund. I told them that I would not hang up and I would keep calling back constantly until this matter is resolved and I would not be mailing anything to them. I was then put on hold for exactly 15 minutes and was told the supervisor was not available but was told to tell me that I would have to submit my request in writing. I advised her again, that I will not hang up and I will keep calling back. She put me on hold again for about 30 seconds and came back and told me they would send me a check. I gave her my address and told her if I didn't get a check I would be filing a complaint with the FCC. I got my check today. Its day 20 and I filed a complaint with the FCC. I was going to file the complaint anyway, but now that I have a check I have their address and more information about them to report to the FCC.

Also its a good thing I live in a small town where the post office knows me because they took my address down wrong. Probably hoping I wouldn't get the check.
