National Church Residences, Joe Anderson Hot water boiler now out since Saturday and today is Wednesday. No hot water

I moved to Aspen Place, Aurora Colorado 80011, in October and one of the main questions I asked the manager is if they had hot water and heat issues. The answer was NO. Since that time, the heat and hot water issues have become much worse and now, today, April 25, the boiler is completely out since Saturday April 21. HUD does nothing and when one reports to the local HUD office, the management in the building threatens the tenant with eviction. One woman already left.

The disgrace of this is that HUD gave National Church Residences a $7.2 Million dollar grant and they fail to maintain the premises in a proper manner for a vulnerable populace comprised of senior citizens age 62 and above. We have been forced to boil water to bathe and do our dishes. Needless to say, someone is in danger of being scalded and this company continues to receive HUD funds. This is not the only issue. Last winter I had to call the Aurora Fire Department because on the reportedly coldest day of the year, we had no heat and people were heating their apartments with their ovens, thereby incurring a fire hazard. There is supposed to be an emergency couple living on the premises and they receive free rent, utilities and live in a two-bedroom apartment with a washer and dryer. They work outside and are never here and never respond to after hours or weekend emergency matters. We need someone on the premises to actually respond to emergencies.

HUD either needs to take over this building entirely and find another group to manage it. Code Enforcement in Aurora has come out and given an ultimatum of 24 hours to fix the boiler or they will haul them into court. Meanwhile residents have no hot water.

Where is HUD in all of this? I think this needs national exposure on the news.
