Miscellaneous

This site has been ripping of people right and left. They advertise brand-name shoes at cut rates. I ordered two pairs through PayPal, and my bank account was immediately debited. The site guarantees shipping within 5-7 days. After two weeks and no shoes, I became suspicious. I never received a confirmation of my order. When I sent an inquiry through their on-site contact form, it was never answered. Looking closer at the site, I realized that it was quite suspicious—some misspellings, some links that went nowhere. A few weeks later (I have all the dates and packaging and documentation), I received two tiny packages from CHINA, each weighing about one ounce, and each containing two plastic paper clips. Though mailed from China (with return addresss), these packages were mailed via the United States Postal Service WITH delivery confirmation (something I can't figure out). I reported this as a claim to PayPal, and since I had to choose a category, I chose "Item not as described" (e.G., plastic paper clips instead of shoes). PayPal told me that I must return the items received and give them the USPS tracking number; the cheapest way to return this 2-oz package with tracking info was $32, which I did today. My guess is that they will be undeliverable and that will mean that PayPal will not reimburse me. And I also guess that this scam involves mailing this cheap s* to their "customers" (other people who have been scammed by this site received sponges or cheap ballpoint pens), so that the customers cannot claim that they did not receive anything. This site, to my horror (!!!) is still up and running, certainly raking in $ and scamming international customers all the time. They need to be stopped, and this needs to be taken to another level—a class action suit? Please do what you can about this criminal activity. And, thank you for your time and help. I think they found a loophole in PayPal's "protection." I paid through my bank account (which also worries me). Someone on Scambook said that they paid with a credit card and that the credit card reimbursed them. Maybe this should be taken up with the almighty Pay Pal?
