My mother (aged 82) was contacted by the above company in January this year, telling her that her computer needed servicing. She had already had the computer serviced by this company and she paid around 70 pounds and was quite satisfied. She agreed to have it done again but mainly because the caller was putting a lot of pressure on her.
At the end of the 'servicing' the person on the phone told her it would cost 305 pounds sterling. My mother was shocked at the price and said she didn't want to pay that much and that she had assumed it would be the same as last time around 70 pounds sterling. The caller then read out her card details to her which he had from the previous time and said he would take the payment from the card which he did.
I called the firm and said that I was not at all happy about what had happened and, after a long conversation, the person I spoke to agreed to send me the invoice which was for 207.99 pounds sterling. On realising this he agreed to refund 97.99 pounds sterling. However, he will only pay it into my mother's credit card account which she has since cancelled for fear that they will take more from her.
They say they will send a cheque but that it will take 30 days. They also say that if money is not refunded withing 4 months you cannot claim it again!
I need some advice as to what to do next. Do I send them my credit card details for them to refund my account but that means putting my security code on an email or do I send them my mum's bank acount details and hope that they send the cheque?
I also feel they should not have charged 207 pounds sterling without warning my mother first that it was going to cost so much. Companies like this should not be allowed to call elderly people like this.
