Making payment with check - customer service

Jan 12 at7:26pm. I made a payment
by check. They requested my I.D. Which
I gladly showed them but requested it
not be put on my check as over 3000
people had had there identity stolen in
Loveland, Co.in past few months. The clerk
who was very polite said she would have to call her manager over as they wanted this information on the check. The manager did
not introduce herself and did not give
eye contact. I voiced my concerns and
her reply was"I can cancel your payment. "I was stunned. I felt she had not heard my concerns also it is very
hard for me to believe people actually
write bad checks for payments but I guess anything is possible. This is
what I do know. You do NOT request I.D.
On checks that are mailed in. So working
and living in work world I believe this
manager would benefit from customer
training classes but I don't think
you can teach critical thinking skills.
Ie: Introducing one's self to customer,
direct eye contact, listening to a very real concern. On my receipt it shows
an approval#, so my question is why would that not be enough? What do you think your manager taught your clerk?
Very disappointed.
