Rhonda Lynn Sands - Pacific Avenue Insurance Agency
Sent me bogus certificates of insurance and failed to ever provide insurance me. Rip-off!

In November Rhonda Lynn Sands at Pacific Avenue Insurance Agency (who sells Allstate Insurance) agreed to bind me for general liability and property insurance on a building I own in New Orleans. On December 5, Ms. Sands faxed me Certificates of Insurance and then sent me originals of the certificates on December 9.

It turned out the certificates were bogus, and Pacific Avenue failed to ever provide me with insurance coverage. My property was uninsured from November 13 to May 21, against my will or wishes.

On April 12 I realized I had never received a bill, nor a copy of my insurance policy. I spent the ensuing five weeks struggling to obtain insurance from Ms. Sands. I finally got insurance in May through my original agent, Bob Haeuser. I paid $6651.75 for my coverage, which is $5101.75 MORE than the insurance I was supposed to get from Pacific Avenue Insurance Agency.

Ms. Sands and Ms. Khan agreed to pay any extra amount beyond the original premium due to their failing to follow up, bill me or provide insurance as agreed upon in April. According to my agreement with Ms. Sands and her associate, Ms. Khan, they should pay this amount.

I spoke primarily with Ms. Khan who said she is a partner in the business, but it turned out she is not even an agent. She behaved extremely unprofessionally, made many contradictory statements, said numerous things that turned out to be completely untrue, and just as I was finally going to be insured, she stated that she didn't want to deal with me any further and referred me to their lawyer.

I have filed complaints with the LA and CA Departments of Insurance, which are pending. Ms. Sands failed to respond to the complaint I made with the BBB.
