Miscellaneous

We own a 2003 Toyota Tundra. It is very badly rusted. The truck does have a recall to repair the rust. We brought the truck to our local dealer who told us that the rusted through portions were not covered by the recall and that the section that was covered was not rusted enough because it had not yet rusted through. The truck has other problems, some of which may be related to the rust. Naturally, we are very leary of investing much more money in the truck because it is so badly rusted.
I don't think you have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that if a section of the vehicle was made with defective metal that is prone to rust and corrosion, that rust is very likely to spread. The idea that one has to wait until the metal actually rusts through to get the repair covered seems not only senseless but unsafe to me. Under these terms the rust recall seems like just a big scam to me.
At this point, I have little option but to trade the truck in and accept only a fraction of its worth, because it is such an old rust bucket. At this point, I am not at all impressed with my "Toyota experience".
