My counterfeit check for $3980 came in a Sears envelope. Normally I never open junk mail, but I had recently applied for a job with Sears and thought it was pertaining to that. The check fell out before I read the letter. My daughter was so excited. I suppose they must somehow get your banking information or probably ask you to send them the $1995 for the taxes, meanwhile you are waiting for a 10 day hold on the check your were given to pass and they get away with your hard earned cash. I did a reverse look-up on the number they said to call (905-598-3414). It is a cell phone with a company called Fido as the carrier and the phone is listed in Ontario, Canada. I didn't pay to see the name just simply because I will not lose onered cent to these people. If anyone reading has cashed this check, they should probably call the state attorney's office because they have a division for mail fraud and counterfeit chacks. I googled it and there was lots of useful information there along with the correct division and numbers to call if anything like this has happened to you. Good luck!
