I put an ad on gumtree.com looking for a scottish terrier puppy. I received an email from mikeperrylo122@gmail.com saying he has to rehome his 16 week old pup as he is going to the UK for surgery. He sent me 6 photos. After replying with details of my current pet situation and promising to offer a loving home for the pup, he decided to let me have the dog. Mike organised delivery of the puppy (called Zeus) through Goldenways International Pet Transporters from Perth (where he claims to live) to Adelaide where I live. I gave him my address and phone number.
Today (24/2) I was expecting the arrival, and was contacted by the transport company to pay the flight fees. Not able to pay online, I had to go to a post office to send a money transfer to the finance manager of the company. They live in Belgium. The details of why to send to Belgium were very detailed and I thought nothing of it. The payment was confirmed later today and I was send an email confirming the flight details of Zeus, due to arrive in Adelaide at 7.55 pm and will be at my house about 8.30.
When 9 pm came I received another email from Goldenways asking for insurance money for the dog at the value of $2500 which made me question the whole situation.
I have been contacted by Goldenways by a man with a heavy accent asking for me to transfer the money, assuring me it is refundable on arrival of my 'dog'. I asked them to send me photos of this 'dog' as I don't believe he actually exists. He said he would do that, but I still have received no email, and I have not heard back from the initial seller in reply to my emails tonight.
I have a receipt of the money transfer which I paid at a post office.
And no puppy.
