An e-mail from "American Airlines" was sent to me reportedly sending me a ticket number. Since I did not buy any tickets, I thought the notification may have been sent to the wrong e-mail address. Lo, and behold! My computer went haywire and I was informed by a Microsoft "pretender" that I needed an updated virus control program (I already had Microsoft Defender) costing $59.95. The "new virus program", apparently was not enough to fix my problem and I was unable to get anywhere in my computer. The Microsoft "pretender" then offered me a "repair" program because I was having a major problem with the Hard drive... Calling it MICROSOFT SECURITY ESSENTIALS for only $84.50! I agreed to this purchase and my computer has been fine since then. What I did find out after I was able to get online again is that Microsoft Security Essentials is FREE!!! I was scammed that day for $144.45! I agree that I should have known better, however, I thought my hard drive was "fried" and that I had no other choice. Please warn everyone to be very careful about the TROJAN VIRUSES and the people why prey on those of us who are not technicians!
