Miscellaneous

My husband and I arrived in Mexico late on the 22nd. On the 24th we decided to take a walk down 5th Ave. We ran into a guy in one of the shops who asked us if we could help him out by attending a 45min. Presentation at Mayan Palace. We were offered $200US and a 1 day free car rental. He promised that we would not be pressured because we were wearing bracelets from Real Resorts.
The next morning he met us and got a taxi to take us to Mayan Palace at 8am.
We were greeted by Susan Armstrong who seemed very nice and easy to talk to. We were told right away that she could do a trade-in with our weeks membership at Real Resorts with a TS at the Mayan Palace. What was supposed to be 45min. Soon turned into 9 hours. The whole time $ were never mentioned.
After 9 gruelling hours she brought over a pile of papers and instructed me on where to sign on each paper. Feeling frustrated and tired we just wanted out of there. The next morning she called the resort to ask how we were. I later learned that we had 5 days to cancel the agreement, but still believed that she had traded our weeks.
We returned home on the 29th and received an invoice in the mail which stated we owed $7,789. I was frantic and called 10 times before Petra Beck from Vida Vacations contacted me. I explained the situation and told her that there was no way I could pay for this as I am unemployed and take care of my 3 infant grandchildren full time. At that time she told me that if I cancel I would lose my down payment of $2681.12. I was appalled as I did not authorize use of my credit card. When I called Amex to dispute the charge I was told that the charge was made over the internet. That explains why there was no credit card slip to sign. I hate the feeling of being so mislead. I just want the nightmare to end and get my life back.
