Harassed in Giant Eagle

A lot of people had told me about being harassed at our local Giant Eagle. That was the only grocery store i shopped at and had never had an incident until yesterday. It was the most humiliating thing i have ever experienced! I stopped there with the intentions of getting my brother a 7up. He was in my car sick on our way to the hospital. While i was there i decided to try to get new foundation because the day before i ran out. However any woman knows how hard it is to match your color if you get a new foundation so to make sure i got the same color i took my old foundation bottle to the store with me. I took it out of my purse in the makeup aisle while i tried to locate the exact product and color. An employee was right beside me and saw me remove it from my purse. They didn't have the same product so i matched colors with another brand. Put it back in my purse and proceded to checkout. I noticed the man following me and once i check out i had another breathing down my neck right behind me in line. Within 30 seconds the register was surrounded by employees.including security so i said you guys can keep this makeup if i have to go through this to buy makeup here you can keep it. Then the woman said well you had another makeup too, one with a pink lid and i responded with yes it is mine and its empty i brought it to match colors. I removed it from my purse and showed it to her. I said you people should know what you are talking about before you harass people. The security then began yelling and said, "you need to calm down." I said, "go to h*ll, i spend too much here to be treated this way." He responded, "if you don't like it get an attorney." I said maybe i will.

Even after being proven wrong their attitude didn't change. They were still very ignorant. I was so humiliated and i had i not addressed the issue at the register they were going to grab me when i walked out the door. I was trying to reduce my humiliation by not having that happen. I dont know in what world it is ok for stores to treat their customers this way. It is truly sad. I have contacted my attorney and the local newspaper as well as the corporate office. I used to work at a grocery store and i know you can't stop someone unless you KNOW they did wrong. I spoke to the store manager and they said they hope it don't happen again. That's it. However i know it won't because i wouldn't spend a dime in that place ever again. I have truly never been in the presence of such rude and ignorant people. And I feel these employees need to have consequences for their actions. I feel like they stereotyped me. Because i have tattoos they assumed i'd be a criminal however i am a devoted Christian. And i am going to push this issue and bring more attention to it than they could ever imagine. They harassed the wrong person this time. And i hope no one ever has to be made to feel the way they made me feel again!
