I was approached by Ms. Similien to perform at a company launch party that was to be held on 6/14 for a guarantee of $500. I had her sign a performance agreement stating that a non-refundable fee of $200 would be due if less than a one week cancellation notice was given. The contract also had a clause that if any information provided was false, the $500 guarantee would still be due. I was informed the day of the supposed event that the event would not in fact occur. I did a little hunting online to discover that Jamie's real name is Starlita Patrice Similien is a long-time online scammer and has quite the criminal record. My band passed up another paying gig in order to perform at this party that never happened. Due to the late notice (the day of), we were unable to secure another performance. I am seeking the full amount guaranteed ($500) plus the cancellation fee ($200), for a total of $700.
