Magazine Subscription Ripoff!

A cold thursday night, two people knocked on my door, a man and a lady. I did not know who they were and they spoke too fast for me to understand. I understood that if we chose to get magazines, then some children would go to someplace nice or get something nice. He didnt really explain himself. All he wanted was money and me to place subscription for a magazine that would EARN HIM MAX points.
They came inside my house without really any consideration (citing cold weather, but then what are you doing outside when it rains?) and started to comment on my house and other things. The lady even had the audacity to ask for something to eat. I felt bad for them and for those children and offered them some food. But the subscription? No way.

But they dont take no for an answer!!!

Finally I had to take a subscription for 63 dollars! I kept telling myself that I can cancel the subscription within three days and still get the money back. Boy was I wrong! Anyway, I posted the cancellation form straightaway (with signature confirmation) to their office. I tried calling them, but it says that the phones do not work. Call yourself a premier magazine subscription distributor? Grrrrrr

So finally I spent a 8 dollar to post the form and 31 dollar to stop cheque payment! All thanks to those nightmares who knock door to door. Sadly, because of them, no one in my house will even consider talking to a door to door salesman.
