Preys on the elderly, poor, down on their luck to solicit money from you!

I received a solicitation that said I had recently been selected to become a new secret society member because I had unique qualities and to return the response & I would receive a 2300 year old 1200 page manuscript that would reveal the secrets to fortune, career, money, health, relationships, etc. After returning the form, I received a 56 page Orientation booklet that asks for $139.95 be sent within 4 days or else it would be too late, I would be too far into the 2nd Phase of my cycle to benefit from the secret knowledge. So I decided to do some research and saw on this website that this scam has been going on for quite some time now. There are already about 141 complaints on this website and it does not look like a stop has been put to this scam at all. Being that I have been ill and had two major surgeries in the last seven months and lost a parent a month ago, I could have easily been sucked into this scam. After reading some of the other complaints, some of the other people actually sent in the $139.95 and did not receive any documents that were old, but received a bunch of papers that were designed to appear to be giving financial advice or advising how someone could save on something, blah, blah, but nothing that was worth the price that was paid and two of the people who did pay the $139.95 indicated they never had any "special" luck happen nor did their lives change at all. I know how I started receiving these letters because they spell my last name incorrectly and it all started when I responded to a flyer from Maria Duvall who claimed she was a physic and for $10, she would send me my horoscope. Well I never received the horoscope but I did receive letters once, twice, or even three times a week that for this price or that price, she would perform some ritual for me that would improve my circumstance. I never responded to any of her solicitations, but then I started receiving letters from supposed Sweepstakes that I had won a lot of money. These notifications come very official looking but when you read the small print and google the names of the firms sending the notification, it all turns out to be a scam that only sends you a list of sweepstakes for $40.00. You actually are not a winner of any sweepstakes nor are you entered in one. I have received a half dozen of these solicitations in the past month. Again, my last name was spelled incorrectly on all of these solicitations so I know Maria Duvall sold my contact information to other scammers in an effort to scam me out of more money. I hope this is a word to the wise. If they can't get money out of you, they turn your name over to other numerous scammers who try multiple different types of scams to get money from you. I sure hope some Attorney General pursues shutting them down because it is a vicious thing to do to vulnerable people.
