* if you are considering any mortgage modification programs... Do not use a third-party servicer - call your mortgage company directly... YOU DO NOT NEED TO PAY FOR SUCH SERVICES AND YOU'LL END UP GETTING RIPPED OFF LIKE I DID! * Similar to what I have read on Scambook and Ripoffreport, I replied to a direct-mail ad for Reliant regarding a mortgage modification. After assuring me that my income would not be an issue, they sent me a few form letters to send on to my mortgage servicer, Fannie Mae, and my Congressman. I am embarrassed that I did. A few months after I made my final installment payment, Ruby Price contacted me and demanded notarized copies of my bank statement to prove that I had paid the full $3,489 before she could continue any work, stating that Reliant had done some "shady things with money" and she needed proof that my account was paid in full. My mortgage company denied me a modification (income was an issue), and the Fannie Mae letters were a dead end. After numerous attempts to contact someone at the Arize group, Ruby Price sent me an email stating that due to "pending legal issues", they could no longer service my account. I contacted the FTC, KY and CT Attorneys General, and the Johnson County District Attorney's office. The KY Atty General said they couldn't do anything since it was Johnson County's jurisdiction. I have all of the correspondence and documentation ready to send to Johnson County... So I am going to, but pulling all of that stuff together is fairly difficult... I have to send them a CD with all of the emails and other correspondence since there are so many documents. If I have any luck, I'll update the post.
