Miscellaneous

I have had several calls from people claiming to be Microsoft Registered Engineers saying that my broadband provider had contacted them regarding slow broadband download speeds and explaining that the problem may be with my computer and not my broadband. I let them go on thinking that if I let them do their pitch then told them I wasn't interested they may stop calling me. I was on the phone about 50 minutes. They claimed that my computer had problems which they could rectify at a nominal charge of £8.34 p/m for a minimum of 12 months (thus being £100.08). That's when I said I wasn't paying them a penny and I knew a microsoft registered engineer and would speak to him about it. They still tried to get me to take out their offer saying that my friend would need to buy the software to solve my problem. I still refused so the then told me that they strongly advise me not to use my computer as it will crash and my data would be lost!!! They have since contacted me again (after a 2 week rest period) as soon as they said who they were I told them I wasn't interested and hung up. I have also contacted my broadband provider as they claim they were contacted by them, which obviously is a lie. I was advised to contact Offcom and Trading Standards.
