Miscellaneous

My credit card was also charged in Jan and in Sept. 2011. I called the 888 number on my credit card account and was told that when you do a search for a person and end up on the archive.com website you have 30 days of free use of the account and then they send you a confirmation e-mail charging you 39.95 for one year's membership. If you don't decline you are sent an e-mail each subsequent year and charged if you do not decline. I was not able to find any e-mails from Archive.com in my Inbox, Junk Mail, or deleted mail folders.

I did succeed in getting one 39.95 refunded since he said that was a duplicate account. I also cancelled the original account, but no refund. It is still "good" til Sept. 2012.

I do believe this is a scam since it pops up with a free information offer whenever you look up a person's address in the white pages.
