Miscellaneous

Received a letter stating that I'd been selected as a candidate to participate in a paid Consumer Research Project. They sent a check for 2,429, 99 with instructions to keep $300.00 as my first week's pay. $1,900.00 was to evaluate Western Union, $129.99 was to be paid to Western Union for sender's fees. They also included $100.00 for my second assignment which was to evaluate a major retail outlet. It all seemed just too good to be true. They gave a number to call to activate the check. I called this number and I could barely understand what the man was saying because his accent was strong. I asked if he had some references of people who had participated in this research and he told me he was really busy and to call back. The letter also stated that they were listed with the Better Business Bureau which they are not. I'm trying to find where to go to file a legal complaint but I also wanted to warn other people. Times are hard and I'm just trying to find ways of earning extra money but there are so many scams out there. I knew immediately that this was just too good to be true. Thank goodness I didn't fall for it and deposit this check!
