Miscellaneous

I noticed a suspicious charge for $39.71 on my November VISA statement from Manoconsult.net. I called the number listed on my statement and was asked: 1) if it was a checking account or credit card 2) to provide the full account number and 3) the name of the primary account holder—WAIT—I just called to find out what I was being charged for. I refused to provide this information and was informed that they could not help me —so, I gave the last four numbers of the account, confirmed that it was a credit card, and gave the wrong primary card holder.

I was then told that I purchased a good/service from "the merchant" via the internet. When asked to identify "the merchant", he kept repeating "the merchant"—and he could not tell me who or what was purchased. I was then informed that this was/is a recurring charge.

The only way to stop the charges is to report FRAUD and close the account—which, at this time of year, is a major pain.

I have contacted the FBI division of internet crimes and the attorney general in FL.
