Miscellaneous

I heard an ad on a local Denver radio station about getting $1000 in free groceries, so I called curiously. When I called, the man on the other end of the line started talking very quickly, telling me he'd get me qualified since there were so few spots left in my area. He asked me qualifying questions like income, household size, etc. And told me I qualified. He then told me there was an activation fee of $19.95, but that there was an opportunity of the website freeshipping.com "sponsoring" me for $15 of that activation fee, stating that they would reimburse me that amount once it was paid. After questioning him a little further, he told me he had been on the line with me for close to 15 minutes and really couldn't keep answering questions, and told me that he could give me the customer service number to answer further questions. I told him I wasn't sure I felt comfortable giving my CC info out to a company I knew virtually nothing about and just wanted more info. He answered a couple questions, and even gave me the "terms" for the sponsorship, which he said he wasn't supposed to do. When I told him his answers hadn't really satisfied my questions and told him I would like to talk to the customer service line, he hung up on me. Although I didn't actually lose money on this, I would say this is a scam, or at least worth looking into more.
