French Fries Taste Strange and Burger Cooking Questioned

What's up with the french fries? Why do they taste so weird? Do they really put a pheromone in them? I remember when they actually tasted like fried potatoes. And the burgers do they really cook them or are they just put in those drawers the pull them out of when they prepare the burgers for orders?
