Purchased a ref Western Digital WD TV HD Media Player for $49.99 plus a 1 yr extended warranty for another $10.in March. Watched a total of 6 movies when the player would randomly stop working. Finally got fed up and took it back for exchange Oct 5/11. Oct 25th got a call telling me to pick it up since they tested it and it was fine. Did not repair. Now they want ANOTHER $50 to release the same defective unit to me. I refuse to pay $160 in total for a unit that will not work properly. Will they put it back on the shelf and resell it? Probably. How many times will they sell the SAME unit along with another extended warranty? Quite a scam... Resell the same unit over and over again. How much money will they make? Hundreds? Thousands? Quite a system they have going.
