Orlando International Airport
Parking Rude & Disrespectful Office

Miscellaneous

I am a full time working mother and do not have the time to request a hearing, however I do feel it is my responsibility and right to inform you of the terrible experience I had at the Orlando Airport. The people you have issuing these tickets are rude, disrespectful, and completely unreasonable.

On Friday, October 21st I was picking up my husband from Terminal B around 9 o’clock PM. I pulled up to the US Airways sign where I saw my husband outside with his carry-on bag. He placed his carry-on bag in the car and proceeded inside to grab his check-on bag. As soon as he walked inside a man approached me and said “You need to move.” I responded with, “My husband is right there grabbing his bag” (while pointing to my husband). As I said this, he made no eye contact and didn’t even acknowledge the fact that I was speaking. He then placed a ticket on my window and walked away.

I have a big problem with people being disrespectful and irrational. I had a 3 year old and 1 year old crying in the back seat wanting to see their daddy and this Ticket Happy “guard” didn’t even give me an opportunity to move my vehicle. Not only that, he didn’t give me the common respect of looking at me while speaking. He was like a robot. I watched him walk to the vehicle in front of mine who had JUST pulled in and were grabbing bags off of the side walk, and he attempted to ticket them as well. This leads me to believe that they are awarded or compensated in some way for issuing these ridiculous tickets. I also have a few problems with the reasoning for the ticket. I did see the sign that read your car would be towed if left unattended. I also saw where it read no waiting or loitering. I did not, however, see a sign that said you would be ticketed unless your passenger jumps into your vehicle without stopping. I also do not see anywhere on the sign that reads that the passenger must be outside at all times.

I understand that people cannot park their vehicles in that area or stay for an extended period of time, however I feel that these guards ticketing people should use a little more common sense and realize that some people cannot carry all of their luggage at once and may need to run inside to grab their remaining luggage. Had the terminal been busy and the guard been more “human”, I would have been more understanding of his actions, but he was not and the total disregard and lack of respect made me angrier at a stranger than I have ever been.
