Brent & I contacted Mr Justy to officiate our wedding in Seacrest Beach, Fl. Oct 8. The price should have been $225 with gas allowance. We were talking with another pastor in Mr. Justy's office, Mike Miles, as Mr. Justy was unavailable. Brent & I completely outlined our ceremony so as to have no guessing. We asked for the Lord's Supper & Mr. Miles was bringing the bread tray with crackers. We would be furnishing everything else. We had ordered butterflies for release and were having a sand unity. Everything was in place and packed... Excited as you can imagine! We continued speaking with Mr. Miles along the trip. A couple days before the wedding we were told that the price had increased!!! To $475!!! We were told the length of the ceremony was the increase! We agreed to pay an additional $325. Mr. Justy would not agree even to $350!!
Thankfully, our wedding went on but plans were changed. We went to the justice of the peace and were married on Oct. 7, secretly and asked a friend to stand in for a pastor. Unknown to anyone~our wedding date is Oct 7... Unlike our gifts and favors, and even our butterfly packages all are dated Oct 8...
I do pray this doesn't happen to another couple!!! Thank you very much for the opportunity to share with others.
