Unlawful Termination

To whom it may concern. I am a recent old employee of Journeys 0865 Mishawaka Indiana. However there were issues with a new manager (Rachael Gibbs) that caused me to be terminated unlawfully and in a very unprofessional manner. I had been with the company for 2 years and went through 5 other store managers (excluding Rachael Gibbs) and always made sure to do the best job that I could.

However on or about October 2nd there was an issue with me and Ms. Gibbs about customer complaints I was recieving when in fact there were no complaints ever recieved or documented. I was then terminated for "having a negative attitude." I was never given written counseling she immediately put me on Final Written Warning. Now to my knowledge this is not the way Genesco is to go about the disciplinary actions when taken.

My district manager is Chris Daley out of Region 2. I would like him to recieve a copy of this and be aware of her actions so he is aware of the verbal disrespect and un-professionalism of Ms. Gibbs. I loved my job at Journeys. I was excited and motivated to get up everyday and come into work. It seemed like I was learning something new everyday and really loved taking part in helping out the store. I started my way from the bottom 10 hours a week and worked my way up to CM with my first promotion from Jeremy Crace who is now a district manager out of Chicago.

To make this matter short and sweet, Rachael Gibbs was the most verbally abusive and disrespectful manager I had ever worked with. There was an instance one day at work where she made a 17 year old PT cry and put her two weeks in because Ms. Gibbs said this PT was not doing a good enough job and to just get the hell out of her store. Now somehow in the midst of Ms. Gibbs arrival I'm now unemployed, unable to collect unemployment, and have a terrible termination record from Genesco. I would like to address this to the company before I take legal matters. Thanks for your time and concern in this matter. -Douglas A. Bubick
