Miscellaneous

Someone claiming to be my grandson called me on Wed. The 5th saying he was in custody in California. He said he had rented a car and gotten in an accident, had been in a Sports Bar, but had little to drink. He said his lawyer would call to explain what happened and tell me what he needed to borrow. A Bill Reed called to say he owed the rental car people 3000., the court fee of 500 and his fee of 1000. He said he was taking care of my grandson, that he was a very nice, gentlemanly, and polite (which my grandson is). I called him back at the number he gave me—438-875-3958—later that day to say I couldn't send it until the next day. He told me not to leave any paper trail because he didn't want anything to show up that could jeapardize the fact that he wouldn't have anything on a record. My grandson had asked me not to tell anyone -especially his parents—because he wanted to wait until he got home and explain it to them in person. I was told to send it to Riverside, CA to a Mrs. Roynette Nicole Cleveland. I tried sending it in a money gram at Walmart and received a call soon after saying there had been a lot of scams in that area and they weren't comfortable doing that and asked if I couldn't just send it to a company, but I didn't have a company name. Next I went to Wester Union. This Bill Reed had said to send it to Trinidad-Tobago to a Lisa Mills Young, which I did. It went through. Bill Reed got the money.

It was all very possible in my mind because my grandson had talked about going to CA to look at a school for next semester.
