"The Retreat" bought the apartment complex formerly known as "Whispering Oaks" around November last year. We were promised a gym, 2 hot tubs, and a pool, which is why we chose to sign a lease at this complex last October. The amenities have been shut down our entire tenancy and there are over 300 residents who are furious. The pool is empty and full of green mold. They also made us remove all of our balcony furniture without providing storage facilities for it. They put up scaffolding all over the building to "renovate" while they disrupt our sleep, privacy, and sense of well-being. They hammer into our bedroom walls at 7 in the morning, every day, while they tear out the windows and trample through our living rooms, unannounced. They shut off the water *every* Thursday. The fire alarms go off nightly for hours at a time. It is an absolute living hell and they've ignored certified letters for due compensation. And they raised the rent $300! We are barely getting 4 hours of sleep at night and we are becoming extremely stressed and unhealthy. It's also highly doubtful that they've followed any legal guidelines in hiring their "renovation" crew. Lawyers I've spoken to have said that we deserve up to a THIRD of our rent returned to us and I'm in the process of collecting signatures and phone numbers of the over 300 tenants who live here, who deserve and expect to be compensated.
